Here at B3 Batteries, we are on a mission to revolutionise the renewable energy sector by creating a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) that allows you to power your home via a repurposed EV battery. Founded in 2022, our team of passionate and experienced engineers are dedicated to minimise battery waste in Aotearoa while providing a solution to meet the energy demands domestic and commercial properties.
Did you know that once a 2013 Nissan Leaf battery has reached 65% SOH (aka 8 bar), its range has dropped from approximately 200km to 70km? Not ideal for getting out and about but perfect for meeting your domestic day to day power usage.
The B3 system will be a plug and play solution, allowing the batteries to be removed from the vehicle and interfaced directly into the house in a matter of minutes, no reconfiguration required.

SUSTAINABILITY
Our planets resources are finite; repurposing EV batteries eliminates a waste stream. Once our batteries reach end of life we will recycle them in-house to reclaim metals such as nickle, copper, aluminium, and cobalt, reducing waste for our future generations
SAFETY
Heath & Safety is embedded throughout all stages of the B3 system. Peer reviewed design, qualified installations and continuous monitoring is provided with every B3 system.
Meet the Founders
We met back in 2016 studying Engineering at the University of Canterbury.
It started as passion project which aligned with Jacks love of electric cars and Jigs love of homes.
Our compatibility coupled with our drive to improve the world aims to turn B3 into a successful startup.

Our existence as a species grows ever more reliant on energy, and this is challenged every year in the face of climate change. We must come up with energy storage solutions that are not only sustainable, but also resilient. I founded B3 on a desire to be part of this solution, to put my skills to use to provide a product that is safe, reliable, and locally supported for New Zealanders, by New Zealanders.

I got my first EV in 2018, back when EV's were niche. I had countless occasions where I would hear "What are you doing to do with the battery once it's reached end of life?" Not being able to find a local solution, Jack and I decided to create one.
